Photo printing is very good for an all-in-one. The fax works well, too. Although, if the printer is off it won't turn on for an incoming fax.

Anyway, the system requirements of a Canon MP390 All-in-One lead me to believe that it *should* work with the laptop which has a USB 2.0 port. According to the manual, the requirements to connect to a USB Full-Speed port (USB 1.1 equiv.) are Win98, a Pentium 233MHz processor and 64MB (128 recommended) RAM.

One could get a low end Canon MP390 for $150, but it takes the BCL-24 , but it's yeild is only 150p. @ 7.45. 5c/page but the yield is so low that it would never print through all the paper in the printer There is also the brother MFC-3240C for $100 but again lower yield than the Lexmark. 500p @ $22 =4.5c/page.
